The Awkward First Post… :o)

The Blog:

If you ended up here, then I’m going to assume you have caught on to the fact that this blog is about menstrual cups. More specifically, my conversion from using the common methods of managing my menses to using cups, my quest to learn as much as humanly possible about the different brands of menstrual cups (and eventually be a cup guru), and my desire to share what I learn with other women who may not know where to begin given the overwhelming amount of information out there.

A Bit About Me:

I’ll be honest, I’m a complete newbie. I bought my first cup three days ago, and of course, my completely wonky cycle has decided that this will be a month where it runs 40+ days, so I have yet to try it. My cycles are completely predictable in their unpredictability (seriously, a run of 27 days, 46 days, 32 days, 32 days, 48 days is not abnormal for me) and consist of 1-2 normal days, 2-3 heavy days, and another 2 or so of light days. So yeah, this should be an experience for me, indeed. I’m choosing to start this blog now when I know very little rather than later when I’m cup savvy, so please don’t expect me to have answers at this point. I’m all about finding the answers.

My Cups:

At the moment, I have one cup and one on it’s way. The first is a size 2 DivaCup. I chose this one because I could get it at a brick-and-mortar store and because it seems to be one of the more popular cups that works well for a wide range of women. I’m 28 years old and have 4 children, so per the manufacturer recommendation, I went with a size 2. The second is a size 2 Lunette Selene that I can’t wait to get.

My next post will be a bit about my first impressions of the cups and hopefully by then, my period will have gotten here so that I can use them and give my opinions on that as well.

Til’ next time!
